Review: Tyrannosaurus rex (Timpo)

1.6 (14 votes)
For some reason I’m in a mood for firsts. So, here’s another company that hasn’t been featured on the Dinosaur Toy Blog before – Timpo Toys. And about time, too, this line really deserves some attention. Timpo was founded in England by German refugee Sally Gawrylovitz (also known as Ally Gee, aii) in 1938.

Review: Tyrannosaurus rex (Tsukuda Hobby Collection)

In my last review, we looked at the Tsukuda Styracosaurus. Today, we will look at another classic favourite from the same line. Without a doubt, the most famous dinosaur of all time is Tyrannosaurus rex. No line of prehistoric figures is complete without one, and it is usually one of the first figures that a new company releases when they first launch.

Review: Tyrannosaurus rex (Tyrannosaurus ‘Wilson’ statue by PNSO)

3.5 (65 votes)
The PNSO produce everything from tiny miniature toys to giant life-sized museum sculptures, but this review is something in between – a sizeable 1:35 scale statue of Tyrannosaurus rex, dubbed ‘Wilson’. We previously unboxed him on our Youtube channel, now it’s time to take a closer look.

Review: Tyrannosaurus rex (Unknown Company)

Tyrannosaurus rex is without a doubt one iconic animal, one of the handful of dinosaurs that most of the general public can identify on sight, and as far as prehistoric animal toys are concerned, there wouldn’t be too many making dinosaurs that didn’t have this guy in their lineup.

Review: Tyrannosaurus rex (Version 2 by Fauna Casts)

Review and Photos by Patrick Bate (Pixelboy). Edited by Plesiosauria.
I’ll admit, I’m a picky collector. I lack the completionist drive to amass a proper collection, and only pick out pieces that really stand out to me as exceptional (and, for my wallet’s sake, affordable). Fortunately for me (and really, for everyone,) there’s Malcolm Mlodoch’s Fauna Casts collection – a collaboration between an experienced paleo-sculptor of nearly thirty years and the community of The Dinosaur Toy Forum.

Review: Tyrannosaurus rex (Version 2)(Carnegie Collection by Safari Ltd.)

4.6 (32 votes)
There was once a time when no proper museum gift shop didn’t feature the legendary and now-defunct Carnegie Collection. Let us take a closer look at one of its biggest stars.

Here we have the second version of the Carnegie Tyrannosaurus rex, released in 1996.

Review: Tyrannosaurus rex (Walking with Dinosaurs by Toyway)

3.7 (37 votes)
Toyway produced eleven dinosaur figures (and an illusive twelfth) to accompany the BBC TV series ‘Walking with Dinosaurs’. I recall my eyes bulging out of their sockets when I first came across these gems in a toy shop in Bath. I was visiting the town with a group of fellow palaeontology students, and the shop owners were baffled when their entire stock of Utahraptors were wiped out in the space of five minutes by a bunch of excited and grinning young adults.

Review: Tyrannosaurus rex (Wild Life Wow by National Geographic/Discover with Dr Cool)

Edited by Dinotoyblog.

The National Geographic Society  is a nonprofit organization that promotes environmental and historical conservation, as well as the study of world culture and history. The society has many outlets to its name, including a magazine, and a cable network on television, so it is highly regarded among  the general public.

Review: Tyrannosaurus rex (Wild Safari by Safari Ltd. – 2011 sculpt)

2.8 (19 votes)
A number of dinosaurs in the Wild Safari line have been subject to resculpts, but the most famous dinosaur of all is unique in having been revised twice. The iffy original was replaced by an abysmal Jurassic Park-esque affair back in 2006; it was almost reminiscent of the Papo T.

Tyrannosaurus rex is the most famous dinosaur of all. It is the archetypal theropod, with short arms, big legs, and long toothy jaws. It is everything that a theropod should be in our imaginations. Tyrannosaurus is unique, though, in being one of the only dinosaurs known from multiple fossil finds.

Review: Tyrannosaurus rex (World of History by Schleich)

Review and photos by ‘Tyrantqueen’, edited by Plesiosauria.
Here we have a new figure for 2012 from the company that so many love to hate, German manufacturer Schleich. This new Tyrannosaurus rex is part of Schleich’s new “World of History” line, which contains some familiar looking dinosaur sculpts, but also some brand new ones.

Review: Tyrannosaurus rex – Feathered & Unfeathered (Soft Model Series 2 by Favorite)

4 (7 votes)
Favorite’s ‘soft models’ have had a complete revamp this year, with an all-new series of sculpts by the renowned Kazunari Araki. With the exception of Pachycephalosaurus and Deinonychus (replaced by Velociraptor), every animal in the original series has an Araki counterpart, and the differences are quite striking and very interesting.

Review: Tyrannosaurus rex and Velociraptors (Playmobil)

4.7 (23 votes)
For 40 years, Playmobil has been one of the most popular toylines in the world, famed for their simple yet elaborate designs and wide-ranging themes. Let us take a trip through their 2007 Dinosaurs line. We begin with Tyrannosaurus rex and a pair of Velociraptors.

Review: Tyrannosaurus rex Maquette (Sideshow Collectibles “Dinosauria”)

What can be said of the Tyrannosaurus rex? Easily the most popular of all prehistoric animals, this universally recognized carnivore embodies the might and majesty of the ancient world. In any exhibit or product line, his presence is absolutely mandatory, his regal status beyond question.
