Review: Tyrannosaurus rex with prey – Struthiomimus (CollectA)

3.8 (25 votes)
Following their excellent Therizinosaurus, Deinocheirus and Triceratops carcass, 2012 was really starting to look like CollectA’s year – a number of superb models and a distinct lack of genuine stinkers. Sadly, this model looks set to break that good run, and even more unfortunate is that it’s yet another dodgy T.

Review: Tyrannosaurus rex “Bull”(The Lost World: Jurassic Park by Kenner)

By far my favourite scene  in The Lost World: Jurassic Park was when the male Tyrannosaurus rex ran rampant through the city of San Diego in search of his baby. Sure, it was over-the-top, but it was undeniably fun. And who wouldn’t enjoy recreating that carnage in the comfort of their own home with a little imagination and a very large toy?

Review: Tyrannosaurus vs. Indominus (Jurassic World Limited Edition Gift Set)

Regardless about how you ultimately felt about the movie one of the most exciting prospects behind the release of Jurassic World was the toys and other merchandise that would inevitably be released alongside the film. The old Kenner Jurassic Park toys are some of the best movie action figures ever produced and although Hasbro dropped the ball on Jurassic Park 3 there were still those that hoped they might do better for Jurassic World.

This review hits another milestone as it is my 70th one for the blog! Deciding which figure to mark the occasion has proven competitive, but one stood out and pushed my original choice: Wilson.

For my 70th review, there was no question who the subject should be.

Carcharodontosaurid-heads have had a lot to celebrate since PNSO hit the scene. The company has produced 6 members of the clade and most of them within the last couple of years. This has allowed fans of these mega theropods to amass a high-end collection of all the clade’s major players, and unlike other dinosaur groups, PNSO has given each an attractive and visually distinct paintjob.

Before I begin I want to state the obvious. Yes, Geoworld does make some terrible figures, but when it comes to their many fossil and skeleton replicas, we can see that Geoworld has potential.

Depending on how you look at it, repaints are either a blessing or a curse. On the one hand, it can be annoying to plunk down hard-earned money on a sculpt you already own. On the other hand, there’s a lot to be said for a radical new colour scheme that spruces up a familiar toy.

Review: Utahceratops (Beasts of the Mesozoic by Creative Beast Studio)

4.9 (56 votes)

Utahceratops gettyi was a fairly large chasmosaurine ceratopsian that grew to a length of about seven metres and a mass of over two tons. As its name suggests, it was discovered in Utah, in the fossil-rich Kaiparowits Formation of the Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument.

History: Since this a relatively newly discovered (2000), and described (2010) ceratopsid species, I’ll present some background. If you’re not interested just skip ahead. Utahceratops Gettyiis a large, robust ceratopsian dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous Period in southern Larmidia which is now approximately Utah in Western North America.

Review: Utahraptor (AAA)

Okay, let´s take a closer look at AAA Utahraptor today. After a long break, welcome to another Libraraptor review of a quirky figure!
By now, Utahraptor is a well known genus belonging to the group of Dromaeosaurs. Its size of seven meters in length makes it the biggest of the tribe.

Good dromaeosaurid replicas are hard to come by. I completely abhor feathered renditions, so I was pretty excited when I finally got the Battat Utahraptor, a huge relative of the Deinonychus. Its skin is still pretty reptilic.
