The hulking ornithopod Iguanodon bernissartensis is probably the loveliest thing ever to spring from a mine in Belgium. Known from a number of remarkably complete specimens, you’d think it’d be hard to get the big-handed one wrong, and indeed most toys over the years have been decent, if unremarkable.

Metriorhynchids were fully aquatic crocodyliforms with reduced forelimbs, no osteoderms, and shark-like tail flukes for propelling themselves through the depths. Plesiosuchus, at an estimated 6.8 m long, is the largest known member of the family. Like its very distant relative the modern saltwater crocodile, this Jurassic predator probably fed on whatever it could catch, from various fish to other marine reptiles.

Plants and trees may not be a collector’s first choice of models to collect, and not only because there’s so few around. In general, humans feel more attracted to animals than towards plants despite the fact that we could still live well without keeping or even breeding (and feeding on) animals, but not without plants.

Having appeared in the film The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Mamenchisaurus is commonly known as the dinosaur with the longest neck. While this may not have been true due to fossils which have yet to be discovered or named, the Mamenchisaurus by Safari LTD has an enormously long neck compared to its body.

After six years of waiting, Safari Ltd. has finally made a new sauropod for the Wild Safari Collection. Sauropods are the one thing I really wish Safari made more of, as the collection only had three of them, and they were gems among the rest of the collection.

Oviraptor is a genus of small theropod dinosaurs, discovered in Mongolia. This figure belongs to the now extinct Carnegie line by Safari Ltd. It is seen by many fans as the “female” counterpart to the newer 2007 version, due to its more subdued plumage, but it really was never intended to be.

Contrary to its appearance in Jurassic World, Mosasaurus was not a blue whale-sized leviathan capable of effortlessly dragging giant genetic freaks to a watery grave. Still, at an estimated 60 feet in length, it was definitely one of the largest and deadliest marine predators of all time.

Fearsome denizens of the Permian, gorgonopsids were rocking the sabre-toothed look hundreds of millions of years before cats came onto the scene. The largest, Inostrancevia, was roughly the size of a black bear and had enormous canine teeth for slashing or stabbing its prey to death.

Apatosaurus was a large, robust, long-necked, small headed sauropod that lived 152-151 million years ago. When the Safari Carnegie line began in 1989 the adult and baby were part of the original line up, and has been part of the collection until the cancellation of the line in 2015.
