Review: Allosaurus (Soft Model Series 1 by Favorite Co. Ltd.)

Despite representing the same genus, Favorite co’s first take on the famous Jurassic theropod is remarkably different their their currently-produced version.
Although Allosaurus is less of a star in dinosaur pop culture than it used to be, the genus is still a mainstay in toy lines.

Review: Allosaurus “Raptillion” (Plasma Dinosaurs by Mega Bloks)

1.9 (16 votes)
This little oddball of a dinosaur toy might not win any beauty or accuracy contests, but is it a decently entertaining piece in its own right?
Between 2006 and 2008, Mega Bloks released a line of small toys under the “Plasma Universe” title which included dragons and dinosaurs.

Review: Seven Little Dinosaurs (China Post by PNSO)

4.7 (7 votes)

Within the unfortunately short time of its existence, Chinese company PNSO released two products in collaboration or commission for  China Post. One is their glorious Mamenchisaurus, the other is a boxed set of “Seven Little Dinosaurs”. Unlike the “Six Little Dinosaurs” the seven do not depict juvenile dinosaurs but rather adult ones, though they are indeed not big figures.

Review: Giganotosaurus (Mini)(Papo)

Not to be outdone by CollectA and Safari, Papo began releasing its own series of miniature prehistoric figures back in 2014. They then took things a step further by re-releasing these miniatures for individual sale with new colour schemes.

This Giganotosaurus is one such example.

A lot of new figures have come out in 2017 [vote for your favourites here – Ed], but perhaps none have become more controversial than the Acrocanthosaurus that Schleich have created for their ‘Conquering the Earth’ dinosaurs collection.

Allosaurus, meaning “different lizard”, is my personal favorite theropod. Is a large predatory dinosaur from the late Jurassic Period of North America and Portugal, with related forms found nearly worldwide. Although most estimates place Allosaurus at roughly 30 feet long, there are fragmentary examples that suggest lengths of up to 40 feet, although these could represent larger allosaurids such as Saurophaganax or Epanterias.

Review: Allosaurus (Age of the Dinosaurs, by PNSO)

As you may know, Allosaurus was a common predator 150 million years ago.  It hunted everywhere on the flood plains of the Morrison formation from the conifer forest, to the fern plains in between.  This charming little fellow is Black the little Allosaurus from PNSO.

Review: Allosaurus (Kaiyodo Dinotales 1:20 Collection)

Genus: Brand: Classification: , Age: Type:

A couple years back I put together a poll on the Dinosaur Toy Forum with the goal of compiling a top ten list of the best Allosaurus toys ever produced. It was no small task, up until the 1990’s the Allosaurus only played second fiddle to Tyrannosaurus in the popularity contest.

Review: Giganotosaurus (Small)(Schleich)

Genus: Brand: Classification: , Age: Type:

Giganotosaurus is one of the largest known theropods, exceeding even Tyrannosaurus rex in body length, though not in mass. Its razor-sharp teeth were superbly adapted for slicing through the leathery hides of the rebacchisaurs and titanosaurs that lived alongside it in Cretaceous South America.

Review: Concavenator (Jurassic Hunters by Geoworld)

Concavenator was a carcharodontosaurid dinosaur that hails from the Las Hoya Plateau in Spain. This animal is very special to me because I have fond memories of seeing it being reported in the news back in 2010 when I was only a lurker on the Dinosaur Toy Forum.

Like diamonds to a woman, Papo is a dinosaur lover’s best friend. While they tend to fall short in terms of scientific accuracy, their models are renowned for being packed to the brim with detail.

Kids perspective by William, edited by Laticauda

Young and old gather around and see the new king in town.  I present the highly anticipated 2017 Safari Ltd. Giganotosaurus.  Why do I call it the new king?  Sure it doesn’t have the name rex in its name, and its not because it was one of the largest known carnivores the world has seen, in which some estimates have it bigger than the almighty Tyrannosaurus Rex.
