Deinonychus was hot in the 80s’ – a relatively new, small, fast, vicious theropod that was beginning to catch kids’ attention in books and TV specials, and therefore made an obvious choice when it came time to fill in the small dinosaur slots in a toy line.

Back in the early 2000s’, paleontologists unveiled fossil specimens of a small, crow-sized dromaeosaurid named Microraptor, which would perhaps change the game for dromaeosaurids from then on, providing some definitive evidence that they had feathers.

It has been quite some time since I last reviewed something from the Beasts of the Mesozoic Raptor Series, having been caught up with Mattel’s Jurassic World figures. But with the next Beasts of the Mesozoic Kickstarter campaign only a few months away, it is time I come back and give some much needed attention to this precious line of highly articulated, highly detailed, and mostly scientifically accurate figures.

The Destruct-A-Saurs line of figures is yet another reminder of how controversial the distribution for Mattel’s Jurassic World figures has been. They were originally to be exclusive to Toys R Us (in the United States at least), and with the stores closing nationwide, it is no surprise these would soon seem hard to get for those in the States, let alone elsewhere.

I ended up picking up this Legacy Collection 6 pack during the 2018 holiday season while it was on clearance at Target, after waiting most of the year being indecisive about it. I’ve decided it’s definitely a nice little set of figures, even if most are repaints.

Hello dinofans, and welcome to another review. Sit back, grab a coffee, and hopefully enjoy the review.
Today, the vast Mongolian desert is a desolate and harsh environment. Breathtakingly beautiful, the landscape stretches as far as the eyes can see.
Once more, I delve into the DinoWaurs Survival line to investigate a member of what most would see as an obvious group for this series: Raptors! However, there is only one member of this family actually featured in this line, and not the more famed members like Deinonychus or Velociraptor.
Since their first Kickstarter campaign back in 2016, things appear to be going very well indeed for Creative Beast Studio and their Beasts of the Mesozoic line. Their Raptor Series, which boasts a wide range of animals from Dromaeosaurus to Mononykus, has been well received by dinosaur fans the world over.
Several months ago, I had the privilege to go and see the Walking with Dinosaurs Arena Spectacular. The full sized animatronic dinosaurs were a real spectacle, and Michaela Strachan did a wonderful job as the palaeontologist Huxley. I decided to grab a piece of memorabilia, so naturally, I went for a dino figure.

Anyone who has heard of Jurassic Park knows what a Velociraptor is. Next to Tyrannosaurus rex and Triceratops, it is probably one of the most popular dinosaurs out there.

The publication of Dakotaraptor steini by DePalma et al. in 2015 was a pretty exciting thing. Dakotaraptor is a large (about five and one-half metres long) dromaeosaurine from the well-studied Hell Creek formation of North America.
