It has been quite some time since I last reviewed something from the Beasts of the Mesozoic Raptor Series, having been caught up with Mattel’s Jurassic World figures. But with the next Beasts of the Mesozoic Kickstarter campaign only a few months away, it is time I come back and give some much needed attention to this precious line of highly articulated, highly detailed, and mostly scientifically accurate figures.

Hello Dinofans! This review marks my 40th review for the blog! It took years to get to this number. So I wanted to celebrate the occasion by doing something different, fun and really silly, but also relevant to the blog.Choosing a subject for the occasion was hard, but I ultimately decided to highlight our little furry friend.
Described by O. C. Marsh in 1879, Ceolurus is known only from a single skeleton found within the Morrison formation. This benign little theropod dates back to the late Jurassic where it rubbed shoulders with the likes of Allosaurus, Stegososaurus, and Brachiosaurus.

There isn’t a single more recognizable in this day and age as Tyrannosaurus rex. When Jurassic Park came out in 1993, the JP-style Rex image was permanently ingrained into the general public’s brains from that point on.

The Destruct-A-Saurs line of figures is yet another reminder of how controversial the distribution for Mattel’s Jurassic World figures has been. They were originally to be exclusive to Toys R Us (in the United States at least), and with the stores closing nationwide, it is no surprise these would soon seem hard to get for those in the States, let alone elsewhere.

I ended up picking up this Legacy Collection 6 pack during the 2018 holiday season while it was on clearance at Target, after waiting most of the year being indecisive about it. I’ve decided it’s definitely a nice little set of figures, even if most are repaints.

An air of nervousness engulfs the once serine scene at the forest edge. Herds of herbivores that just minutes ago were busy playing, eating, and calling to each other now stood silently still, on high alert. Their sudden change in behavior is warranted.
Well, a full year has gone by, and it’s safe to say that the Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom toy line has been a success. So much so that some of the toys have won the Toy Associations best Action Figures award for 2018, which is a lot more than Hasbro’s lazy attempts from back in 2015.

I usually do not like reviewing a repaint of an original sculpt that has already been reviewed here on the blog, simply due to the fact that I am left with not much to talk about except for the new paint job.
Anchiornis huxleyi was only described a decade ago and yet has gone on to become one of the most well understood dinosaur species in recent memory. Hundreds of exceptionally well preserved fossils of this late Jurassic paravian have been found in the bone beds of Liaoning, China.
Many of Bullyand’s figures have yet to be covered here on the Dinosaur Toy Blog as of this writing. The subject of this review, their 2000 Allosaurus, is actually my first piece from the company. Allosaurus remains a mainstay in dinosaur merchandise today, with a wide range of pieces in varying degrees of quality, but at the turn of the century, this Walking With Dinosaurs-inspired offering would have been one of the best among a much smaller pool of choices.

Dinosaurs roamed the earth once again this past June in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Following suit, LEGO released a wave of sets to commemorate the latest blockbuster movie from the dinosaur-themed franchise.
