Review: Tyrannosaurus rex (2006)(CollectA)

CollectA nowadays is widely considered one of the top makers of high quality prehistoric toys, as demonstrated by their very awesome 2017 assortment. But that certainly wasn’t always the case. For this review, I’ll be taking another trip back in time to 2006, the year of CollectA’s humble beginning.

Review: Tyrannosaurus rex (Adult and Baby)(Wild Safari by Safari Ltd)

Genus: Brand: , Classification: , Age: Type:

With Wild Safari having released an absolutely stellar assortment for 2017, I thought it would be both amusing and humbling to take a trip back in time to when the line was widely perceived as being strictly for kids and inferior to the now-defunct Carnegie Collection.

Review: Zhuchengtyrannus vs Sinoceratops (Favorite Co. Ltd)

4.8 (6 votes)
Review and photos by Triceratops83, edited by Suspsy
The Favorite Zhuchengtyrannus and Sinoceratops come packaged in a boxed set for the Fukui Dinosaur Museum in Japan. They are sculpted by Favorite’s premiere artist, Kazunari Araki. Both of these dinosaurs are only known from fragmentary remains, so the scale is a bit iffy, but they fit in well enough with other 1:40 figures (or possibly slightly smaller).

“Season’s Greetings, fellow dinosaur lovers! Yes, it is I, Dr. Bella Bricking, enjoying another holiday season! And where would I be without my trusty and beloved companion, Beth Buildit?”
“I can’t believe I let you talk me into wearing this hat, Doc.”

“Now, now, no humbugs, Beth!

Review: Tyrannosaurus (Field Museum Mold-A-Rama)

Genus: Brand: Classification: , Age: Type: ,

Having technically already been reviewed there really isn’t much new to say about this one. DTF member “Foxilized” reviewed the original back in 2010. For the sake of consistency though I feel compelled to share my thoughts too, I’ve been reviewing all of the current Field Museum Mold-A-Rama figures and it would feel strange not including this one.

Review: Hatchling T. Rex “Rudy” (Club Selection by REBOR)

When Sideshow Collectibles revealed their Brachiosaurus hatchling in 2009, it might have inspired REBOR to create their own take on a hatching dinosaur. The REBOR Club Selection line features only limited edition models numbering about 1000 worldwide.

Review: Feathered Dinosaurs Premium Box by Colorata

4.7 (23 votes)
This year has seen toy companies embrace feathered dinosaurs like never before, if not always with perfect execution. Accuracy stalwarts like Safari Ltd and especially Kaiyodo have been giving us feathered dinosaurs for years, but now even Papo and Schleich are getting on the plumage train.

Review: Tyrannosaurus (Dinotales Series 5 by Kaiyodo)

Genus: Brand: Classification: , Age: Type:

4 (7 votes)
With its head tilted back and puny arms stretched out the Kaiyodo Dinotales series 5 Tyrannosaurus presents the genus in a unique posture not often depicted in the mass market. This animal clearly has something to say; perhaps he’s attempting to impress a mate or reaffirming his dominance.

Review: Eotyrannus (CollectA)

Genus: Brand: Classification: , Age: Type:

1.7 (17 votes)
Eotyrannus, the “dawn tyrant,” was discovered in the fossil-rich Wessex Formation on the Isle of Wight, UK. It is one of the earliest known tyrannosaurs, and while it was a far cry from the likes of Tyrannosaurus rex, Tarbosaurus, and Zhuchengtyrannus, it must have been a formidable predator in its own right.

Any review of a recent CollectA figure is likely to point out the dramatic increase in quality that the company has undertaken within the past few years–and rightly so. Also of note, however, is a more gradual improvement since then.
