Review: Tyrannosaurus (Bite Club by Mattel)

Genus: Brand: , Classification: , Age: Type: ,

4.1 (21 votes)

Despite being the most popular of all dinosaurs, with multiple figures to its name released per year, everyone is still on the hunt for what they consider the “definitive” T. rex. Companies have tried to deliver it with mixed success. At various points over the last several years the title has been held by Safari, PNSO, Rebor, Beasts of the Mesozoic, PNSO again, and this year we have the long awaited Eofauna Tyrannosaurus hitting the scene.

Review: Stegosaurus (Animal World Dinosaurs by Bullyland)

Genus: Brand: , Classification: Age: Type: Scale:

2.5 (23 votes)

If we were handing out awards for ‘chonkiest Stegosaurus toys’ this one would surely be in the running. When I first embarked on this review I had assumed it would be a simple matter of specifying this as the Bullyland ‘mini’ Stegosaurus, but I quickly realised it isn’t that simple.

Review: Bicapitosaurus ivani (Unknown caster)

Howdy from wonderful, windy Wyoming! Today we’ll take a (satirical) look at Bicaputosaurus ivani, sculpted by an unknown artist.

For the first time, a national big box department store steps to the front, ahead of offerings by typical dinosaur manufacturers, offering this rare dinosaur to any discriminating collector.

Review: Chasmosaurus (Haolonggood)

Genus: Brand: Classification: , Age: Type: Scale:

4.9 (41 votes)

Haolonggood has once again given us another high demand dinosaur that’s been mostly ignored by other toy companies. In doing so, they’ve helped me complete my decade long quest to own my favorite ceratopsids: Pachyrhinosaurus, Nasutoceratops, Einiosaurus, Centrosaurus, Pentaceratops and now finally, Chasmosaurus.

Review: Velociraptor (Blue) (Bite Club by Mattel)

Genus: Brand: Classification: , Age: Type: ,

3.2 (19 votes)

It’s Blue the Velociraptor, as you’ve never seen her before! Mattel has taken the sleek, aerodynamic, and menacing Jurassic World Velociraptor design and flipped it on its head. What we have here is a version of Blue that has embraced domestication and spends her days lounging around Owen’s cabin, chowing down on dino-kibble.

Review: Stegosaurus (Honorable Lead Boiler Suit Company)

Howdy from wonderful, windy Wyoming! Today we’ll take a look at the Honorable Lead Boiler Suit (HLBS) Stegosaurus. Stegosaurus, with the large plates on its back, is probably one of the most recognizable dinosaurs along with Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, and Brontosaurus.

Howdy from wonderful, windy Wyoming! Today we’ll take a look at the Honourable Lead Boiler Suit(HLBS) Plotosaurus. This figure was made in 2000 or 2001. I believe this is the first review of thisspecies, however, so an introduction to the species is appropriate.

Review: Triceratops (Bite Club by Mattel)

Genus: Brand: , Classification: , Age: Type: ,

3.9 (26 votes)

Without much fanfare, late 2023 saw the release of a whole new line of Jurassic World products from Mattel. Dubbed Bite Club (Get it? Like Fight Club?), these figures are sculpted in the chibi style that is common in anime and manga. The chibi art style originates in Japan.

Review: Allosaurus (Honourable Lead Boiler Suit Company)

Howdy from wonderful, windy Wyoming! Today we’ll take a look at the Honourable Lead Boiler Suit (HLBS) Allosaurus. This model is okay until you get to the head, which will be analyzed below. It isn’t one of HLBS’s best models, but not quite the worst either.

Review: Spinosaurus (Monster In My Pocket by Matchbox, Series 6)

Genus: Brand: , Classification: , Age: Type: Scale:

2.6 (21 votes)

After four series the Monster in my Pocket line began to run out of actual monsters to make, and began to take inspiration from the real world instead. Series five was a line of ‘Super Creepies’, essentially an array of extant bugs and other creepy crawlies, and series six turned its attention to dinosaurs in 1993 – that’s the line we’re all interested in here.

Review: Liopleurodon (DeeZee)

Howdy from wonderful, windy Wyoming! Today we’ll take a look at the DeeZee (DZ) Liopleurodon. DeeZee figures were incorporated with the Honourable Lead Boiler Suit figures and sold as one line, as additions to HLBS’s Saurian Safari game.

Review: Yangchuanosaurus (Dapeng) (Prehistoric Animal Models by PNSO)

Genus: Brand: Classification: , Age: Type: Scale:

4.8 (46 votes)

With 47 votes the PNSO Saurophaganax is poised to win the prestigious title of figure of the year on the Dinosaur Toy Forum’s Top 10 of 2023 poll. And rightly so, it’s a fantastic figure. One of the best theropod models I’ve ever seen, and quite possibly the best “Allosaurus” ever.
