Review: Xuanhanosaurus (Jurassic World Dino Trackers Danger Pack by Mattel)

Genus: Brand: Classification: Age: Type:

3.8 (43 votes)

I, Emperor Dinobot, recently posited a question around, and it was the following: Could Mattel be designing dinosaur figures and naming them afterwards? We already have an example: Roarivores Sinoceratops is actually a Pachyrhinosaurus, but it got a name change due to the fact that Universal wanted to market Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom to the massive Chinese audience, and Pachyrhinosaurus was substituted by Sinoceratops, a dinosaur which represented China.

Hello, everyone and welcome to another review, in which I’ll be reviewing the Gr Toys x Halonggood Blue CarcharodontosaurusCarcharodontosaurus was a massive carcharodontosaurid that lived in northern Africa during the Cenomanian stage of the Cretaceous period about 90 million years ago.

A dragon of ashen white and gray scales emerges from the pitch-black forest to haunt the twilight hours…

2023 has been a busy year of theropods for PNSO, having released a dozen large predators back to back over the year’s course.

Kid Galaxy has released several dinosaur figure sets under the “Dinosaur Action” line. Most of these consist of Hasbro Jurassic Park III bootlegs. One of these sets, the Dinosaur Action 10 Pack, released in 2019, includes this Giganotosaurus.

Review: Mapusaurus (Prehistoric Animal Models by PNSO)

My sincere thanks to Happy Hen Toys for furnishing this review sample.

Several other companies have made Mapusaurus figures before, including Bandai, Playmates, and CollectA. So far, however, we’ve only reviewed CollectA’s four (!!!) versions on the blog. A brief re-introduction might be useful, then: Mapusaurus hails from the Huincul Formation (English approximation: “ween-COOL”) in Argentina, just like its recently described relative Meraxes and the famous Argentinosaurus.

Review: Dinosaur Colosseum (2019 release by Takara Tomy)

2.5 (50 votes)

Hello, who’s this?

Takara Tomy is a prolific toy manufacturer which has produced a number of dinosaur-related toys in the past. Most of these toys have been released under the ANIA (sometimes “Animal Adventure”) line, but some have received more unique lines of their own.

Review: Concavenator (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Hammond Collection by Mattel)

3.2 (182 votes)

With the announcement of the Hammond Collection Concavenator late last year it became apparent that Mattel had no intention of limiting their premium collector’s line to creatures with significant screen time in the Jurassic franchise. This revelation left many collectors feeling frustrated, hoping that the Hammond Collection line would at least tackle more important prehistoric animals first.

Review: Dinosaurs III (Authentics Habitat Collection by Safari ltd.)

3.7 (15 votes)

The final set of Safari’s first forays into dinosaur miniatures features a charming blend of aesthetics, and also serves in retrospect as a tribute to a dawning hobby and its burgeoning artists.

In 1994, Battat was commissioned by the Boston Museum to produce what would become one of the most praised toy lines in dinosaur collecting.

Review: Neovenator (2021)(CollectA)

Genus: Brand: Classification: , Age: Type:

It’s a hot, clear summer day. Birds are chirping in the trees while the pterosaurs overhead call out to each other as they pass in the sky. Turtles and crocodyliformes are basking comfortably on the banks of the calmly flowing river and on one side, a single spinosaur is standing stock still in the shallows, waiting patiently for a meal to swim by.

Review: Prehistoric Tube C (CollectA)

4.3 (27 votes)

Since they first started producing tube sets back in 2015, CollectA has covered a pretty decent variety of prehistoric life, wild animals, sea creatures, and farm stock. In 2021, they went back to the beginning with a third dinosaur (mostly) set consisting of ten figures, all based on previously released toys.

Review: Carcharodontosaurus (GR Toys by Haolonggood)

Genus: Brand: , Classification: , Age: Type:

4.8 (49 votes)

You’ll be hard-pressed to find a “shark-toothed” theropod model as decked-out and detailed as this one, although a couple of design flaws might have one hesitating at the retail price.

Carcharodontosaurs have ranked among my favorite dinosaurs since early childhood – the notion of meat-eaters even bigger than the mighty Tyrannosaurus was simply too irresistible to my 5-year-old self, and that initial shock and awe has remained embedded in my psyche to this day.
