Part 3 of Kaiyodo Dinoland Natural History review series
The state of Montana today is one of the most scenic and picturesque states in the Unites States. It is also one of the riches in fossils of prehistoric animals, especially dinosaurs.If you drive around the many lonely and winding roads, you have a feeling that you just stepped backed in time.
A lot of ornithischian dinosaurs lacked teeth in the front of the mouth, having only cheek teeth that ground up food, and often a beak for clipping vegetation. The family Heterodontosauridae (“different-toothed lizards”) was unusual among ornithischians in having three different kinds of teeth in different parts of the mouth.

One of the larger dinosaurs from Playskool’s Definitely Dinosaurs Series 2, the Parasaurolophus is really nice-looking for a preschool toy. Featuring similar articulation to the other large dinosaurs in the series, it has a hinge jointed neck for up and down head movement, swivel joints at all four limbs, and a rotatable tail .

Parasaurolophus is a pretty distinctive animal and just about all of the manufacturers of dinosaur figures that have been around for a while now have their brand on the underside of a plastic version of one.

One of my favorite herbivores, the Parasaurolophus is perhaps one of the most iconic of the hadrosaurids, and perhaps one of the more iconic herbivorous dinosaurs as well, with its large tube-like crest. This creature has been featured in every Jurassic Park film so far, yet has been hardly represented in the toy lines for the various films.
After bursting onto the scene with a bang in 2016, PNSO underwent some internal problems in 2017 which seemed to put the future of the company and their products in serious doubt. Happily, those appear to have been resolved, as PNSO has recently begun unveiling new prehistoric products, including many lovely little miniatures.
Of all the product lines offered by stalwart manufacturer Safari Ltd, the “Toob®” line gives them the freest rein to explore unusual taxa. I’m personally fondest of the Toobs that furnish small versions of small animals that might scale well with Safari’s full-size figurines.
