Review: Dinosaur miniatures (unknown company)

Review and photos by Rebecca O’Neill, edited by Dinotoyblog.

This group of ten novelty, cartoonish dinosaurs were purchased on Ebay in 2018, and don’t seem to be available anymore. Very much in the style of The Land Before Time or Dinosaurs the television show from the 1990s, they are a variety of well known dinosaurs rendered in a caricature form.

CollectA Caviramus left

At this point I think it’s fair to say that a new large-format pterosaur is among the highlights of CollectA’s new figure announcements. They don’t quite come every year, but they do seem to be coming more frequently. This year’s choice was one of the earliest pterosaurs, the peculiar Caviramus schesaplanensis from the Rhaetian (Late Triassic) of what would become Eurasia.

The first specimen of Caviramus was only a broken lower jaw which showed evidence of heavy teeth and an unusually low joint.

Even though CollectA has always released models of almost unknown dinosaurs or recently discovered ones, when Saltriovenator was revealed as a new release for 2020, the surprise for Italian paleo-nerds was huge. Not long after the description of the theropod by Dal Sasso, Maganuco, and Cau, the third Italian dinosaur species would have had its first toy replica!

I guess there`s not much to say about the “Lion of the Jurassic” that hasn`t been covered in one or more of the three dozen reviews to this species before, so let´s get straight to the figure.

“Protocasts” is the brand name of our forum member Kayakasaurus, under which he releases figures since 2016.

Some of those who are interested in dinosaurs may have kept some as pets at one point. In my case, it was budgerigars which lived at my grandparents’ house when I was a small child. They liked to sit in front of a mirror, inspecting their reflections on a small table that was set up by my grandmother with various soft toys they liked to play with.

It probably wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Pteranodon is the most popular of all pterosaurs, and probably the one with most toys to its name. To this day, it remains one of the most recognisable pterosaurs, if not prehistoric animals in general, no doubt due to its very distinct head crest.

Review: Muttaburrasaurus (Lost Kingdoms Series A by Yowie)

2.4 (7 votes)

Of the various dinosaur clades, one of the most successful all were the Iguanodontids. Found on most continents in vast numbers, often found in large numbers and well articulated in terms of fossils. One of the most complete species in Australia is one of said clade, Muttaburrasaurus.

Review: Indosuchus (Age of the Dinosaurs by PNSO)

During the Late Cretaceous, the subcontinent of India was ruled not by tyrannosaurs, but abelisaurs such as Rajasaurus, Rahiolisaurus, and Indosuchus. The latter is thought to have been anywhere from 7 to 9.7 metres in length, and, unlike most other abelisaurs, appears to have had a relatively longer skull and larger arms.

Hello blog readers! This would be my 60th review, and to mark the occasion, I decided to go cute! Well, not me, but the figure I’m reviewing today! When it comes to baby dinosaur toy figures, I’m not typically excited about them. I have nothing against them really, in fact we really need more of them, at least good ones.

Review: Allosaurus (Adventure Force)

Adventure Force, from what I can gather, is a Walmart brand that mostly sells repackaged knockoff NERF guns, so I didn’t expect much quality from their toys. The other Adventure Force animals I saw alongside this one were generic 80s-style tripodal dinosaur models that they’ve apparently acquired the rights to, and a tube that I couldn’t get a good look into but appeared to mostly be unique contents, if somewhat simple.
